Maura O’Connell and Jim O’Donnell

Jim and I met at BC Law in 1975. Dave Hill, Section 1 Property professor, seated everyone alphabetically–O’Connell, O’Donnell, O’Neill, Orfanello and O’Shea. (Mary Orfanello always did stand out!) We dated over the next three years and enjoyed the tremendous school spirit of the Class of ’78–Friday afternoon Bar Reviews, a losing basketball team until a win by forfeit in the last game of ’78 to Bob Berry’s undefeated Equal Pro Team! Most memorable of course was as cast members of My Fair JD ’76 ; That’s Unemployment ’77 and Draculaw ’78. We still have the original scripts and playbills, so everyone come to this Fall’s reunion.

We married in September 1978 and moved to Toledo, Ohio to practice. We took the Connecticut Bar in 1980 and moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut, where we’ve lived ever since.

We have five children: Caitlin ( 36) and Maikel; Jim (35) and Laura; Sean (34); Brendan (32) and Ciaran (28). We have one grandson, James Edward O’Donnell V, known as Finn, born in May 2018! Of that clan, we have one attorney, Jim, who is an assistant district attorney in Houston, Texas.

Jim is a partner at O’Donnell, McDonald and Cregeen in Fairfield, Conn. I haven’t seriously practiced since the birth of my first child, although I went back to work as the manager of the Gaelic American Club in 2006 for seven years and then managed a small non-profit theatre for several years after that.

Hope to see ALL of you at our 40th reunion!
