Here’s three reasons why:

(1) Give alumni what they want and need.  
In this unprecedented period when isolation abounds, alumni are craving connections. This is the perfect time  to give alumni exactly what they are yearning for. A virtual reunion gives them the chance to connect with classmates and the school. By skipping a reunion this year, a school misses a valuable opportunity to fulfill their alumni’s need.

(2) Think longterm – it will benefit the school.
Resist the urge to retreat.  We have to remember that “This too shall pass.” Alumni will still be your alumni when this is over. Philanthropy will rebound and likely increase.
